The women's first team narrowly miss out on making the finals for the second year in a row

Slough 1s recently took part in two gruelling weekends of competition against the best in the country, as they fought for a place in the top four of the Premier Indoor league and qualification to the Super Sixes National Indoor tournament.

In what is known as the ultimate battle of skills and tactics, each team in the indoor league plays eachother once in a mini-league to determine who secures one of the coveted four places that go through to the finals day on Sunday, January 29 at the Copper Box at the Olympic Park in London.

Slough has a long history of success in this competition both nationally at at European level. Despite being in the National Division One in outdoor, they have retained their place in the Premier league for indoor and also we still hold the most indoor titles of any women's club.

This year the squad had to travel to Repton in Derbyshire for the group games and the squad did the club proud with a variety of closely fought games. Highlights included a 7-1 win versus Leicester and a very close game against East Grinstead which Slough lost just 2-1. A repeat of the semi-final from last year but a much improved scoreline.

Slough ended up placing just outside the top four in 6th position with the team playing amazingly well against strong opposition. As always a little bit of luck could have helped swing things Slough's way but it wasn't to be this year.

The top four that progress to the Super Sixes are East Grinstead, Repton, Bowdon Hightown and Buckingham.

Congratulations to the whole squad for doing us proud and looking forward to being back in the mix next year!
