This Sunday, November 20, 2022, Slough Hockey Club will be holding an exclusive junior training session held by Olympic champion Hollie Pearne-Webb, and is open for all juniors aged 6-18 years old to attend.

Last season Slough HC raised £640 for the 'Going for Gold' Challenge set by England Hockey and Alzheimers Research UK, in support for GB Olympic legend Imran Sherwani who is currently living with the disease.

Sherwani scored two of the gold medal winning goals for GB Hockey in the 1988 Olympics. During his playing career he not only inspired so many people in the hockey community and beyond, he also spent some time playing at Slough HC, driving the club to raise funds for this important cause.

As a result of being one of the hockey clubs that raised the most amount of funds for this initiative, England Hockey has rewarded Slough HC with an exclusive training session with Hollie Pearne-Webb, current England and GB captain.

Pearne-Webb will be attending the junior session from 9:30am-12noon this Sunday and Slough HC is inviting all youngsters to come down and get involved. It's free for all that attend and a great opportunity to find out how fun hockey can be as well as getting to meet Pearne-Webb and potentially hold one of her two Olympic medals!

Pearne-Webb is most famous for scoring the decisive winning goal at the Rio Olympics that won the GB Women's team their first ever Gold Olympic medal. An event that was watched by more than 10M people here in the UK alone. She went on to now captaining the GB and England teams, and also led the women to a bronze medal at the recent Toyko Olympics last year.

Hollie will be helping inspire all attending juniors with some tips and tricks learnt throughout her hockey career. Everyone knows how valuable it is to meet a hero of the game you love and we can't wait for them to experience this extra special session and maybe even inspire some that might not even currently play hockey.

Slough HC has a mixed junior section catering for both boys and girls aged 6-18yrs and is welcoming all players of all abilities to come and give hockey a go, even if you've never picked up a stick before.

She is a legend of the game and well respected around the world and we are super excited to welcome her to Slough!

"Sport is so unifying and teaches us all so many valuable lessons both on and off the pitch. Hollie is a fantastic role-model and I'm sure whilst she is out there coaching she'll be sharing some amazing stories. Plus we are all hoping she might even bring down one (or two) of her Olympic medals so the youngsters get their photos and signed pictures with her!"
