SLOUGH Ladies got their season back on track after an opening day defeat with a 2-0 win over Canterbury.
Slough skipper Fiona Greenham said: “It was a much improved performance over last week’s with our back four, particularly Chloe Strong, in outstanding form.”
Enjoying the greater possession in the first half, Slough created some chances but managed just one score when Lauren Penny latched onto a through ball in the 15th minute before dashing into the D and firing home.
Canterbury saw more of the ball in the second half but rarely troubled Slough keeper Becky Duggan and the game was won by Strong’s direct penalty corner strike on the hour.
