SLOUGH Ladies ended their league season with an unexpected goalless draw with Leicester, who had already clinched a second successive title.
The result was all the more remarkable as Slough were missing five key players – Sam Archer, Harriet Cunningham, Alex Scott, Chloe Strong and Nicola White – and were further depleted when Natalie Bell turned her ankle in the first half.
Leicester were at full strength, packed with current internationals, and had by far the majority of possession but they were limited in the clear-cut chances they won and Becky Duggan was in top form in the Slough goal.
Leicester were restricted to half-a-dozen penalty corners while Slough won none.
In the final minutes both sides came close with Leicester firing wide and Katie Shanahan unable to convert Slough’s best opportunity.
