Slough started with a depleted squad missing a few key players. This was clear in first 5 minutes as Slough's slow and hesitating start caused them to be 1-0 down. This seemed like the wake up call Slough needed as they dominated the rest of the 1st half with some brilliant hockey. Slough's young goalkeeper, Harshav was in excellent form.
During the second half Oxford were stopped in their tracks by some excellent defending by Ash and Dahele, which saw Slough counter attack and put Oxford under pressure. Bini made some excellent runs through the opposition creating some great chances. Slough maintained the pressure on Oxford resulting in their first short corner. Rajan injected the ball perfectly to Jas who hit the ball with Inder deflecting it into the top of the net and bring the scores level. Slough kept up this momentum which resulted in them going 2-1 up through an own goal scored by an Oxford defender.
Unfortunately despite Sloughs 100% work ethic, brilliant hockey played and teamwork, several contested short-corner decisions resulted Oxford scoring two short-corner goals and winning by 3-2. Slough were clearly hugely disappointed that a match they had virtually won, slipped away in this manner.
