Slough managed to record their first victory of the season against a depleted and shorthanded Surbiton team, but it wasn't an easy win. Surbiton arrived with only 9 players after some last minute drop outs but were a solid unit and it took Slough a while to get into the swing of things. In fact Surbiton could have taken the lead with some good build up play but were unable to get the shot on target or were thwarted by Rahul Doll in the Slough goal or byt the endeavours of the Slough defence.

Eventually Slough won a corner and although the initial attack was parried, Arundeep Hans managed to put away the ball in the follow up play. Shortly after this a Hans solo effort, almost broke through the Surbiton ebtrenched defence but the force was not with him and he was well tackled.

Slough went into the break 1-0 up and Surbiton decided to play with a kicking back. Hans then managed to get a second, shortly followed by a great short corner move when Sachin Sehdev found Navidu Vthana at the far post for a tap in. Surbiton almost snatched a goal back at this point with a great shot across the goal that his the far post giving Doll no chance, but thankfully it was easily cleared by the Slough defence. Then Vithana Setup Zak Thasim to complete the scoring.

It was good to see the team listening to and applying instruction - much like the Guildford game (but with a different result) - when the team work together and apply themselves with a little confidence they acquit themselves well.

After an extremely hard season, Slough deserved something to be proud of. They worked hard before and during the game and hopefully this can the start of more success.
